When you’re creating the home of your dreams you don’t want to leave any stone unturned. And when you get inspiration in the middle of the night, or in, say, the waiting room at the doctor’s office, it’s good to have the ability to plan your custom home at your fingertips. All you need are the right apps on your phone, desktop, or tablet.
From helping you stick within your budget to finding interior design ideas – there’s an app for that. Here are our top ten favorite apps for custom home building:
1. Houzz
If you’ve ever used Houzz before, you know it’s a mammoth website. It’s also a fantastic app for design inspiration. From the latest in kitchen design, to landscaping, to floorplan ideas, Houzz can help you with everything including the kitchen sink (sorry, we couldn’t resist!). Like what you see? You can purchase products you find on Houzz directly from the website.
2. Sherwin-Williams Color Snap Visualizer
This is an easy-to-use app that you’ll want to dowload before you go to the paint store, for sure. All you have to do is upload a photo of the walls you want to paint then add it to the Color Snap Visualizer and tap it to change the color to find the Sherwin-Williams color that works best.
3. Clopay Imagination System
Cincinnati-based Clopay makes some of the most beautiful garage doors in the world. Whether your custom home is traditional, modern, or a little bit of both, you can use their Imagination System feature to create your perfect garage door. The app works similar to the Sherwin-William app – simply upload a photo of your garage and pick from the Clopay collections to “try on” garage doors.
