Are you ready to create a custom oasis worthy of your custom home? Might we suggest adding a stunning inground pool? The winter months are an excellent time to plan and be the first to break ground in the spring. Today’s pools are gorgeous, modern, and even eco-friendly. Not only can they bring a new level of luxury to your Cincinnati home and yard, but they come with some practical benefits as well.
A lap pool and swim jets, for example, are perfect for those who love exercising in water. Fixtures like fountains add tranquility and a spa-like ambiance, and tanning ledges let you soak up the sun while staying cool.
Look for these trends in swimming pool design in 2024:
Eco-friendly. Between the construction and the chemicals it takes to keep them clean, swimming pools haven’t exactly earned high marks for sustainability. But that’s changing. Now pools are much greener (and no, we don’t mean that literally!) thanks to eco-friendly building materials and better lighting options.
Today, inground pools can be built with recycled materials. Energy-efficient or solar powered lighting is also readily available. And with the right filtration system, you can even fill your pool with rainwater. Saltwater pools are also gaining in popularity since they tend to be less harsh on the skin than chlorine pools, and they are better for the planet, too.
Unique lighting. Not only are new options in pool lighting more eco-friendly, but they can also create a wide variety of moods and add ambiance. Use floating lights that can be dimmed or brightened by an app, add LED or solar lighting around the perimeter of the pool and walkways, and use underwater lighting to increase safety during night swims and to add contrast.
Single lane lap pools. If you love to swim but don’t want a pool that takes up a large portion of the yard, consider adding a single lane lap pool instead. Most are between 40 and 75 feet in length – enough to get a great aqua workout in. Mid American Pools specializes in building beautiful gunite lap pools for homes across Cincinnati.
Swim jets. Fitness fans will love swim jets that pump out a strong jet of water you can swim against to build strength and endurance. These jets can be customized to your workouts and are ideal in both smaller and large sized pools.
Tanning ledges. Prefer to take it easy? Tanning ledges, submersed in water along the pool, is another big trend. These nooks let you soak up the sun while staying cool.
Color options. Add a splash of color to your pool by painting the liner to achieve your desired results. For example, chose shades of white or pale blue paint if you’d like the water to look clear or light blue like the water you’ll find in the Bahamas. Prefer a deeper Mediterranean blue hue? Go with a light gray liner.
